My name is Hanne Mi, I’m a sculptor and ceramist and I create all
my works in Vassilikos, the southern area of Zakynthos island.
During my artistic career I learnt a lot about different disciplines (curriculum)
and now in my small shop, opened since 1990, I show you the most special
ceramic art pieces all carefully designed, made and fired day by day in
my workshop.
All my works are inspired from the island's natural surroundings, colours,
local mysteries and myths.
In my studio you can find painting, vase, jugs mugs, plates, goblets,
tables, fountains, plowerpots, sculptures, wall plaque, and many other
objects all realized with clay.
This is not only a place to find a gift or 
memory
to take home but also a place to experience Ceramic Creativity in its
best.
All the material I use like high-fired (1260°) clay and colors come
from north Europe and are suitable for every day use objects (plates,
cups, bowls…) and so all my works are certified for using in contact
with food.
That means that there is no Cadmium and Lead used in any of my glazes.
Something that is a problem for low fired Ceramics and often if strong
in colors Ceramics.
If
you come in my shop you can find me working with wheel to create a cup,
painting a vase or taking some pieces out of kiln.Many of my decorative articles are fired with an experimental technique born in the 14th century in Japan, called Raku where each piece is unique and is treated individually in the firing process. The pieces are rapidly heated up to 1000 degrees Celsius. They are picked out of the kiln with a pair of tongs.
It is important for each piece not to loose its temperature but still to be glowing hot when rolled into grass, wood, or wool in order to get its black smoky marks and unique colors.
At the end of the process the objects are cooled in water in order to freeze the colors.
I offer you also courses to learn in three lessons how to draw, decorate, paint and fire clay to create an object that you can bring home like a souvenir to remember this experience.

Courses are
also available for children that
can learn and enjoy themselves for two hours while you are relaxing
yourself.
In my shop you can certainly find the perfect present for your family

sculpture, special name or number Plate on demand.

On the road to Gerakas beach in Vassilikos, there is a blue sign decorated
with two sea horses on your right hand, if you follow it few meters
far away the road you will find my new built Studio and me ready to
show you my small paradise.
You may wish to order something unique, something special. A name or
number plate, tiles for your kitchen or a salad bowl.
Please do so.
Remember though that clay needs time to be dried and fired so give me
a week or two. Visit my studio at the start of your holiday and not
the last days.
A good idea might also be to write me an E-mail before your arrival
in Zakynthos.
